Return to the town of Maycomb in To Kill a Mockingbird, Aaron Sorkin’s award-winning stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic novel about racial injustices and the inherent kindness of children. Book To Kill a Mockingbird tickets on London Theatre.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a play set in Alabama in the year 1934. It follows a lawyer named Atticus Finch as he passionately defends Tom Robinson, a Black man who was wrongly accused of rape in a town that is filled with racial prejudices and their own fear. As Atticus fights for the truth to be brought to light, his children, Scout and Jem, begin to understand how cruel the adults in the world around them can be.
Harper Lee’s novel was inspired by her own childhood and became one of the most widely read books of the 20th century in America. It has sold more than 45 million copies internationally, won the Pulitzer Prize for literature, and has remained one of the most challenged and even banned books in both schools and libraries.
Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation of the book became a huge success on Broadway and in the West End, with smashing, acclaimed productions. Now, following a record-breaking, sell-out UK and Ireland tour, the production is returning to the West End for 12 weeks only. This production boasts a formidable cast, including Richard Coyle returning to the role of Atticus Finch, Gabriel Scott as Jem Finch, Dylan Malyn as Dill Harris, Andrea Davy as Calpurnia, Stephen Boxer as Judge Taylor, Aaron Shosanya as Tom Robinson, Oscar Pearce as Bob Ewell, and Evie Hargreaves as Mayella Ewell.
Alongside the cast of To Kill a Mockingbird in London is a masterful creative team, which includes direction by Bartlett Sher, set design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, sound design by Scott Lehrer, and an original score by Adam Guettel.
