Event description

Dive nose first into great wit and romance in Cyrano de Bergerac, Edmond Rostand’s classic being reimagined with great vigor by Simon Evans and Debris Stevenson. Book Cyrano de Bergerac tickets on London Theatre.

Cyrano de Bergerac is a play centering Cyrano, who is a poet, soldier, philosopher, and an expert swordsman whose brilliance is only matched by his terrible self-esteem. He is passionately drawn to a woman, Roxane, but is haunted by the ever-present doubts in his appearance, namely his larger-than-average nose, and he cannot bring himself to confess his feelings to her. So, when Roxane falls for a handsome yet tongue-tied man named Christian, Cyrano believes himself the best person to help Christian find the words to win her over.

This play is very witty and intensely romantic, following a man who lives by both his prose and the sword, even as he watches the woman he loves fall for another. What unfolds on stage is a story about self-doubt and about the cost of leaving our feelings unspoken.

Cyrano de Bergerac in London is following a sold-out, critically acclaimed run with the Royal Shakespeare Company as it transfers to the West End for a limited season at the Noël Coward Theatre. Olivier Award-winner Adrian Lester stars as Cyrano, with Susannah Fielding as Roxane and Levi Brown as Christian. The rest of the cast also includes Joseph Christain, Sunny Chung, Philip Cumbus, Greer Dale-Foulkes, Rachel Dawson, Oliver Grant, Scott Handy, Robert Jackson, David Mildon, Matt Mordak, Daniel Norford, Chris Nayak, Christian Patterson, and Josh Sneesby.

This show is directed by Simon Evans, who co-adapts the play with Debris Stevenson. Alongside them is a formidable creative team, including set and costume design by Grace Smart, lighting design by Joshie Harriette, composition by Alex Baranowski, and sound design by Donato Wharton. Alongside the cast, this team of creatives brings Rostand’s timeless story to the West End with a breath of fresh air.
